Web filtering supports remote working, firm claims
Written by Jessie Richards

Employing web filtering solutions helps remote working become more effective, it has been suggested.

In comments which may interest those considering IT outsourcing, internet security specialists SmoothWall pointed out that the software prevents workers accessing inappropriate and malicious web content when operating outside of the office.

The organisation added that the security of employees' laptops is more important because of the rise of swine flu, which may infect up to 100,000 people each day by August and could cause an increase in remote working.

Tom Newton said: "With mounting concerns about productivity, security and compliance, employers can no longer afford to let the activities of remote workers go unchecked."

He also claimed that remote workers often present a greater threat to firms, as office-based employees operate on the company's secure network.

Recently, Retell pointed out that businesses should be aware that their office communication systems could be vulnerable to hacking attacks, which highlights the need for IT security.
