Written by Jessie Richards The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has doubled it reward for workers in the capital which report their companies for using illegal software. In news which may concern IT support in London users, the group revealed that employees could receive up to £20,000 if they give information on firms which have pirated software installed on their networks. Alyna Cope, spokesperson for the BSA UK Committee, said that the recession is making people more likely to report examples of corporate wrongdoing. "Many cash-strapped employees are willing to supplement their earnings in the run up to Christmas by reporting illegal business practises" she added. Ms Cope also said that the BSA is already investigating several businesses in London for using unlicensed software. Recent research from the group found that 40 per cent of workers would report their former employer for using illegal software if they were made redundant. Earlier this month, the BSA revealed that a lack of software management cost three London-based companies around £35,000 after they settled an intellectual property case with the group. ![]() |
