Posted by Jessie Richards More businesses are set to turn to mobile business intelligence (BI) solutions in 2011 and beyond, it has been reported. Research consultancy Gartner claims that a strong body of mobile BI users is emerging, and the technology will become increasingly prevalent between now and 2014. The firm said that mobile business intelligence tools will initially consist of existing reports and dashboards ported to the mobile device, but by next year will offer analytic applications for specific tasks or domains. "Mobile BI will significantly expand the population of BI users to include a more mainstream audience and this opportunity will attract significant investment," the company stated. "Gartner advises organisations to work with the marketing department and product management to create customer-facing mobile BI applications, and with the supply chain group for supplier applications." According to a recent study conducted by IDC, growth of 13.9 per cent was witnessed in the business intelligence software market during the first six months of 2010. ![]() |
