Cloud capabilities to expand over the next 12 months
The next 12 months will see a whole host of new cloud computing capabilities available to businesses in the UK, it has been claimed.

According to Peter Job, founder and chief executive officer of optimisation consultancy Intergence Systems, believes that there will be many changes in the way in which firms handle and control their data this year but new technology will adapt to this.

He points to Hyperglace, a system developed by his firm, as a new product which help businesses no end in 2012 as it gives them easy ways in which to manage data but it also enables them to see the information and control where it sits.

Indeed, many businesses have been sceptical of the cloud because they do not like the idea of hosting their sensitive date remotely with being able to see what is happening to it.

“It goes back to the old adage – 'what you can't see, you can't measure',” Mr Job stated.

"I spent a lot of time in the US in Silicon Valley when we were developing Hyperglance and certainly if you look at the US market, cloud computing has really, really taken off in a big way.

“Obviously, it's a much bigger market than Europe, but I think they seem to be embracing the technology and as with most things - what tends to start in America then tends to come across to Europe quite quickly.”

He added that the next 12 to 18 months will see “a lot more innovative cloud products” and that will make a massive difference to IT on mainland Europe as well as in the UK.

Dr Mark Thompson of the Cambridge Judge Business School said recently that the development of IT services in recent years has been nothing short of revolutionary.
