VoIP is radically changing business
In business terms at least, the future is bright, the future is VoIP.

That’s the message coming from Tom Dobson, business sales manager for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia) region at Telappliant.

He believes that VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services will radically alter the way in which companies communicate in the future as well as deliver them with cost benefits.

“Internet connectivity is becoming better in many countries, it is cheaper and that allows you to effectively use a single connection or at the very least two DSL (digital subscriber line) connections - one for voice and one for data,” he explained.

“You can add numbers from around the world and generally expanding your business globally is a lot easier using IP.”

He added that moving to an internet based communication system does not mean your business will have to go through a lengthy period of upheaval as installation can often be done in less than one hour.

He also stressed that cherished telephone number your company is known for also does not have to change.

In fact, you can even have a telephone number from another global destination if that suits your business needs better.

“From a UK perspective, you can have any city number you like,” Mr Dobson stated. “If you're based in London, you can have an Edinburgh or Dublin number - even a number from France, New York and places like that.

“That whole flexibility and global appeal that you get with VoIP - that you can't get with traditional telephony - is more and more appealing these days.”

Trefor Davies, chief technology officer (CTO) of Timico, said last month that VoIP technology will one day sound the death knell for the traditional telephony systems.
