Teleworking does the business for London
New technology has enabled Londoners to collectively save more than 2.4 million hours in travel each day while the Olympic Games was taking place in the city.

Figures produced as part of the Pocket Hotspot study from communications firm O2 found that the number of people working from home (or teleworking) rose by 50 per cent while the sporting extravaganza was wowing the nation.

And eight out of ten people questioned said that they expect to continue working from remote locations even after the summer ends.

Driving this revolution are new technologies like VoIP (Voice over Internet protocol), cloud computing and video conferencing because they give workers the platform in which to make anywhere an office.

Gary Booker, consumer general manager at O2 said: “We’ve truly become a nation of mobile workers. For huge numbers of people, where they work doesn’t matter if they are productive – and employers have embraced that philosophy.

“The technology now means that people can be in touch with the office, each other and their clients whenever and wherever they’re located.”
