Email most popular form of communication
Email will continue to be the most popular form of online communication for some time, according to an internet marketing expert.

Jack Wallington, programmes manager at the Internet Advertising Bureau, said that email is cheap and it is universal.

"You can always contact someone with an email address no matter what email software is used. No other means of reciprocal communication on the web can claim to do this," he continued.

He went on to say that email on smart phones is free, simple to use and has the potential to replace texting altogether as it becomes more affordable.

Mr Wallington also added that email is the earliest and simplest form of social networking and is ingrained into everyday life.

According to a study by online communications firm Habeas, 67 per cent of respondents prefer email to other online communications, such as video or instant messaging, and 65 percent believe that they will continue to do so for the next five years.
