Coinbase to partner with eSports brand Team Liquid

Crypto exchanges have recently started a race for esports sponsorship.

According to INCRYPTED, Dutch company Team Liquid has signed a four-year contract with Coinbase. As the esportsmen explained, such a partnership will help highlight the “intersection between the gaming audience and crypto enthusiasts”, as well as create new content focused on cryptocurrency. Coinbase will be responsible for cryptocurrency transactions for Team Liquid’s marketplace. The companies will also jointly develop technologies to help interact with fans.

“Like many of our fans, cryptocurrency was once a novelty for me. But then I started to study this topic and realized that this was not some fleeting nonsense. It is now and will be in the future, ”said the owner and CEO of the company, Steve Arshanset. “We hope that together with Coinbase we will be able to break the myths about cryptocurrency among the fans of Team Liquid.”

The Dutch brand Team Liquid was founded in 2000 year. It includes more than Legends, CS: GO, Valorant, and more. The organization will use the Coinbase logo on their jerseys. Perhaps it will also help develop intangible tokens popular on gaming platforms.

By the way, cryptocurrency exchanges have already begun to compete among themselves for the right to cooperate with eSports teams. For example, in June FTX announced a seven-year sponsorship deal with the League Championship Series for League of Legends, and also announced plans to become a sponsor of League of Legends and other tournaments.

But these plans were not destined to come true, as previously FTX signed a contact with Team SoloMid. Under the terms of the agreement, Riot Games (a provider of video games and competitions) has banned the team from wearing clothing with the crypto exchange logo at tournaments hosted by Riot. And this, among other things, is the League Championship Series. So now it is not clear how they will deal with the confusion, and whether we will see the crypto exchange logo at all on some T-shirts.
