ProShares Applies Metaverse ETFs

ProShares намерена зарегистрировать в США ETF-фонд с акцентом на метавселенные

  • ProShares intends to register an ETF in the US with a focus on the metaverse
  • It will track fluctuations in the quotes index of companies working in this direction
  • So far, the fund is focused only on public organizations

Issuer ProShares has publicly announced its plans entering the metaverse market. The company has applied to register an ETF targeting this area. So far, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has not approved it, but it’s only a matter of time.

The fund is also known to track fluctuations in the Solactive Metaverse (SOMETAV) index. It will include companies in the AR / VR segment, as well as organizations for the development and supply of equipment for virtual universes.

In particular, among them are such corporate giants as Apple Inc., Meta (Facebook) and component maker NVidia.

ProShares plans to launch a new direction amid the leap in popularity of NFT. More and more companies are showing interest in this sector of the market. Tokens have even surpassed BTC in popularity.

According to Bloomberg, the amount of global ETFs by metauniverses at the end of the year rose to $ 2.8 billion. Experts expect the emergence of new products and the rapid development of the segment.

So far, the ProShares ETF Index tracks only public companies, excluding DeFi projects. But it is only a matter of time before the company expands its market coverage. This can be seen in the growth in popularity of projects such as The Sandbox and Decentraland.

As for ProShares’ economic performance, the past year was successful for the corporation. In September, it became the first company to receive approval from the SEC to publicly issue BTC futures.

It is noteworthy that the head of the agency considers the crypto ETF to be a “speculative asset”. And his valuation of BTC futures was more than restrained.
